Aniwow!2011 Introduction

 

2011 is the 6th birthday of [Aniwow!], the 10th anniversary of the School of Animation and Digital Arts of CUC, and a brand-new start for Chinese animation education which has rapidly developed during the last ten years. In name of animation, we gather all the animators around the world, sharing the achievements of Chinese animation education, showing the image of us marching to the bright future.

 

Supervised by Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and Beijing Municipal People’s Government; supported by Publicity Department of Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, China Communist Youth League Committee School Department, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, Chinese Television Artists Association, China Animation Association, Association of International Animated Film and ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee, [Aniwow!2011] 6th China (Beijing) International Student Animation Festival is sponsored by Communication University of China (CUC), organized by the School of Animation and Digital Arts of CUC, Education Committee of China Animation Association, Beijing KAKU Cartoon Satellite TV and Yadii (Beijing) Inc. As co-organizers, Veolia Environmental Services Asia and China Society for the Promotion of Ecological Ethics give special support to the festival.

 

[Aniwow!2011] has 4 main sections: competitions, screenings, master classes and special events. In competition section, we have traditional awards as White Poplar Award, ASIFA China Award, ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee Prize for Excellent Student Work, and Little Poplar Award. The organizing committee especially set up the CUC Animation Thanksgiving Award, in order to present our thanks to the pioneers, elites and the experts in animation, who provided us help and great support during the last 10n years. We also set up Veolia Ecology Awards to promote the idea of ecological health and green life among young people in the form of animation. In screening section, we have Austrian Special, French Special and the Student Works from International Colleges, to present the fresh new and brilliant animation artworks of the year. In Japanese Special and Manga Exhibition of Kodansha would be the first time for [Aniwow!] to bring in the inspiration and production experience of the Japanese animation and comic arts. In the master class, artists from the new media and animation area such as Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks would be delivering inspiring lectures.
